Casting for pike

The mighty pike is perhaps the most common and most fished species in the Archipelago Sea. For anglers who fish actively, trophy pike of over ten kilos are no accident.

The best season for pike, and big pike especially, runs from a week or two after the ice breaks up until the end of May, and in autumn from October until the ice returns.

Fly fishing for pike

If you need it, we'll get you started with fly casting and show you the secrets of fly fishing for pike, the king of the sport. This package is also a great choice for anglers who have already done a lot.

Fly fishing is one of the surest ways to reach truly big pike. In the warm season we strip poppers and tinsel flies fast through the surface film, which brings spectacular takes. In cold water, a slow retrieve with long pauses often gives the best results.

Jig fishing

Jigging is a fairly reliable and pleasantly light way to fish.

With a jig we can fish very precisely where we know the fish are holding. First we find them with the guide's local knowledge and an echo sounder. Then the puzzle begins: which shape and colour of jig, how heavy a head, and what kind of retrieve the fish want today.

In the Archipelago Sea the usual targets for jigging are perch and zander. The best zander seasons are May–June and August–October. For perch, the best time is from late July to the end of October.

Selective fishing

The point isn't to fill anyone's freezer, so after the photos we release the biggest fish in particular, to keep thinning out the roach. Big breeding females are extremely valuable for a healthy pike stock. The fish we keep for eating are ones of a suitable size, or ones that may have been injured.

Fishing licences and equipment are of course included in the package. Cleaning and preparing the catch costs extra.

Jetty fishing

Fishing with a simple rod and line is open to everyone under Finland's everyman's rights, and few people don't enjoy it. Watching a float bob is calming, even meditative.

It doesn't depend on the weather, and you're very likely to catch something. The main target is perch, often in good numbers.

While we fish and afterwards, we go through how to handle the catch properly so it reaches the plate fresh. We also look at filleting perch, and other fish as needed. You can take your catch home for dinner, neatly prepared.
